Coronation Keepsake for Fareham Residents

Fareham Borough Council is offering residents the chance to purchase a special commemorative mug for The King’s Coronation.

The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and Camilla, currently Queen Consort, will take place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May 2023. A range of ceremonial, celebratory and community events have been announced for the Coronation Weekend between Saturday 6 and Monday 8 May 2023.

Fareham Council has a proud record of producing mugs for Coronations and Jubilees and many residents have expressed an interest in having a commemorative keepsake to mark this occasion. The Council is therefore offering Fareham residents the opportunity to purchase a special commemorative mug for just £4.

To ensure that the Council only purchases the number of mugs required, it is asking residents to fill in an expression of interest form which can be found on the Council website: www.fareham.gov.uk/coronationmug

Residents have until the 17 March to complete the form and the Council will then place the order.  The mugs are expected to be available close to the Coronation weekend, subject to production and delivery times, and residents will be notified when they arrive at the Civic Offices. Payment will be taken upon collection at the reception desk.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Sue Walker, said:

“The Coronation Weekend will truly be a momentous occasion, and will provide a fantastic opportunity to celebrate with loved ones and spend time with friends, family and community.

“Many residents have already expressed an interest in having a keepsake to mark the event, to give to children or as part of their street party celebrations. We are pleased to be able to offer these mugs at an affordable price, but we must place the order well ahead of the event, so I encourage residents to fill in their expression of interest as soon as possible.”

Funding for community Coronation events is available through the Hampshire County Council Councillors Grant. Funding is available from 1-21 April 2023. For further information, please contact your Hampshire County Councillor with details about your event.
