Raising a Flag for Armed Forces Day

Fareham Borough Council has marked this year’s Armed Forces Day by raising the Armed Forces Flag outside the Civic Offices in Fareham.

Representing the Armed Forces were Captain Tim Davey, Commanding Officer at HMS Collingwood, Engineering Technician Pippa Chadwick, and Able Rate Maya Leworthy. The ceremony was also attended by The Mayor of Fareham, Cllr Fred Birkett, together with the Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Seán Woodward and Chief Executive Officer Andrew Wannell.

Cllr Birkett said: "As a former Royal Navy NCO, raising our Armed Forces flag is not only an honour, but something particularly close to my heart. On behalf of myself and Fareham Borough Council I would like to express our appreciation for everything the Armed Forces have done and continue to do ahead of Armed Forces Day this Saturday, 24 June.”
