Press Release

1 November 2023

Fareham’s Remembrance Day Parade and Service

Fareham’s Annual Remembrance Day Parade and Service will take place on Sunday 12 November 2023.

The Forever Remembered ceremony will commence at 9.45am at the War Memorial, Holy Trinity Church, where the names of those from the Fareham area, who have died as serving members in British Armed Forces conflicts, will be read out.

At 10.38am, the parade will be stepping off from the Duke of Connaught’s Own Club in Western Road. The parade will continue along Kings Road and on to West Street, arriving at the War Memorial for two minutes’ silence at 11am. Following this will be the Ceremony of Laying Wreaths and a special service at Holy Trinity Church.

The Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Fred Birkett, said:

“I hope that Fareham residents will be able to join us on Remembrance Sunday for this important ceremony to pay our respects to the British service members who have lost their lives in wars and other military conflicts.”

The Forever Remembered ceremony has been undertaken every year since 2009 by ‘The Society of Old Priceans’. However, this year will be the last time that they will perform this role.

Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Seán Woodward, said:

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to The Society of Old Priceans who have conducted the Forever Remembered ceremony since it was introduced several years ago. I now appeal to our community for volunteers who may wish to continue this important tradition of commemorating our local service men and women each year as part of our Remembrance Sunday parade.”

Volunteers interested in continuing the Forever Remembered ceremony can contact the Council at MayorPA@fareham.gov.uk or call 01329 236100.
