The late Alderman Brian Bayford

It is with great sadness that Fareham Borough Council reports the death of former Mayor and Councillor, Alderman Brian Bayford, who passed away on 9 February at Queen Alexandra Hospital.

Alderman Brian Bayford was a well-respected Borough Councillor representing the Park Gate ward between 2002-2018, during which time he served as Mayor of Fareham in 2010-2011. Brian also served as the Executive Member for Health and Environment, the Executive Member for Streetscene and the Executive Member for Health and Housing during his tenure. In recognition and acknowledgement of his eminent services to the Council, he was invested to the roll of Honorary Alderman in 2018, with his wife, Councillor Susan Bayford, presenting him with his Alderman Citation in her role as Mayor at that time.

A Civic funeral service will take place at St Mary’s Church, Warsash at 1pm on Thursday 29 February for those who wish to pay their respects.  The family have asked for family flowers only and any donations to be made to the Friends of Fareham Community Hospital at https://brianbayford.muchloved.com

Our thoughts and prayers are with Councillor Susan Bayford and all of Alderman Brian Bayford’s family at this very difficult time.
