Visit Fareham’s Pop Up Beach this summer!

As part of the Council’s celebrations to commemorate the 50th year of Fareham having Borough Status it has arranged for a giant sandpit to be installed in Fareham Shopping Centre.

This ‘Pop Up Beach’ will now be in place for the whole summer, until 16 September, for families enjoy for free.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Connie Hockley, said: “We are very proud to be able to provide this Pop Up Beach in the heart of the town centre as part of Fareham’s 50th year celebrations. It is all indoors so families can escape the rain and children can play for free. I would like to thank Mountjoy for sponsoring this impressive installation and encourage Fareham families to come along for some indoor summer fun.”

The Pop Up Beach has been sponsored and installed by construction engineering company, Mountjoy Ltd, with materials kindly donated by Travis Perkins.

A spokesperson at Mountjoy said “It took 20 volunteers to move over 10 tonnes of sand into the shopping centre to make this Pop Up Beach possible.  They also constructed the framework and covered it in the grass to ensure it was safe for the children. We are delighted to be supporting Fareham Borough Council with this project and we will continue to work with them to ensure that the sand is topped-up, clean, and that there are plenty of toys for children of all ages to have fun this summer."
