Plans for Fareham Park Play Area Unveiled

Following months of consultation, Fareham Borough Council has unveiled plans for a superb new accessible play area and multi-use social area (MUSA) at Fareham Park Recreation Ground.

Fareham Park play area will be the first in the borough to include a wheelchair accessible seesaw and features to attract users of all ages and abilities with comfortable hammock seating, a 100m running track and a mini running track for toddlers. The MUSA includes an area for ball games, gym equipment and a Nina Warrior style trail; there is even a winner’s podium!

The exciting new design will replace the current play area adjacent to Fareham North West community centre and has been influenced by many suggestions and comments collated throughout a comprehensive consultation that included public meetings, consultation surveys and a ‘Let’s Talk Fareham Park’ Facebook page.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Connie Hockley, said:

“I was really excited to see the new layout for our latest play area, especially because I know we have been able to incorporate features that our users have asked for.  As a result, it is packed with things to do from toddlers upwards and its wealth of accessible features means it can be used by everyone.”

Fareham Park play area is the first step in a programme to transform the existing Fareham north-west community and leisure facilities by relocating the existing play and recreational facilities from its current location to Fareham Park Recreation Ground. Phase two will be to build a new, larger and flexible community centre on the new site.

The play area improvements are expected to be complete by Spring 2025.
