Press Release

6 September 2024

Fareham Live Car Parks now open

Fareham Borough Council has announced today that the three car parks directly adjacent to Fareham Live, the new community, arts and entertainment venue, are now open.

Councillors and officers from Fareham Borough Council were joined today by Neilcott Construction Ltd to officially reopen the car parks to the public.

The underused and outdated Osborn Road multi storey car park was demolished to create space for a new surface car park fit for modern cars. This will serve both the town centre and Fareham Live and will provide 136 larger car parking spaces as well as charging points for electric vehicles.

The two smaller car parks immediately adjacent to Fareham Live were closed to provide room for the construction site to be established as well as providing parking for the construction vehicles. These have been resurfaced and laid out to provide parking bays to suit the size of modern cars. The three car parks also provide 26 accessible parking bays.

With the re-opening of these car parks, there are over 1,400 Council operated parking spaces serving the wider town centre, and over 600 within easy walking distance of Fareham Live.

Executive Leader of the Council, Councillor Simon Martin said:

“I am delighted to be here today to officially open the Fareham Live car parks and to see the much more attractive surface car park that Neilcott Construction have delivered. The opening of these car parks, followed by Fareham Live itself on 1 October, represents the first stage of our significant regeneration ambitions for Fareham town centre. This programme of regeneration will deliver a town centre that has a vibrant mix of shops, services and entertainment to improve our local economy and better serve our community's changing needs. I am glad to see the first stages of this plan coming together and I am certain that these new car parks will be well used by visitors both during the day and into the evening.”
