Fareham in Bloom 2024 Winners' Photos

26 September 2024

Winners announced in Fareham in Bloom 2024

Fareham Borough Council is delighted to announce the winners and runners-up in this year’s community gardening competition.

Between May and July, residents were invited to enter Fareham in Bloom 2024 by submitting a photo of their outdoor spaces of any size. The competition, sponsored by St Margaret’s Nurseries and Ecosupport, offered five categories for residents to enter. In addition, a new prize called the Mayor’s Gold Award was created to commemorate the Borough’s 50th anniversary, where the Mayor chose the best overall entry across all categories.

The photographs were uploaded to the Council’s Facebook page and website, and votes were cast by ‘liking’ the Facebook images or by submitting the details via email. The judging panel visited the two gardens that received the highest number of public votes in each of the categories.

The winners in each category are:

Best Garden: Irena Pryer
Businesses and schools: Growing Places @ OakMeadow
Something Small: Patricia Kelly-Blyth
Community: Keeping Sarisbury Green Association
Sustainable Garden: Sharon Collins
Mayor’s Gold Award: Growing Places @ OakMeadow

The runners-up are:

Best Garden: Lee Woods
Businesses and schools: Jigsaw Pre-school
Something Small: Mila Smith
Community: Burnham Wood and Tangle Wood
Sustainable Garden: Stephanie Sheppard

Winners and runners-up were presented with their prizes and certificates at a special party in the Mayor’s Parlour yesterday.

Executive Member for Streetscene at Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Ian Bastable, said:

“I would like to thank the residents, schools and businesses who entered the competition, demonstrating how much effort they had put into creating their displays throughout the Borough. It is particularly pleasing to be able to celebrate the Borough’s 50th anniversary with the addition of the Mayor’s Gold Award this year. Congratulations to all the winners and runners-up!”
