Come along to Fareham’s glittering Christmas Lights event!

Fareham Borough Council will be welcoming visitors to its glittering annual Christmas Lights Switch On event on Saturday 23 November 2024.

Taking place on the pedestrianised area of West Street from 10am-7pm, there will be a Christmas market, free children's activities including Christingle making, circus skills and arts and crafts, fun fair rides and stalls, food and drink, street and stage performers and more.

This family favourite usually attracts thousands of visitors. Last year, many of the planned activities and attractions had to be cancelled due to very bad weather. This year the Council will not let the weather spoil the fun, so the Christmas market will be moving under cover into Fareham Shopping Centre. The countdown to the festive lights switch on will be at 5:30pm under the town centre band stand and the Deputy Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Mrs Louise Clubley, and her Deputy Mayor's Consort, Mr Jonathan Clubley, will do the honours this year.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Connie Hockley, said: “The Fareham Christmas Lights switch on event is a real treat for everyone. With so much to see and do, I hope residents will come along to do some Christmas shopping, indulge in some of the delicious food and drink and be entertained and amazed by our stage and street performers. The indoor market will provide shelter from the elements and the evening’s festivities will close with our Christmas lights countdown, which is a real spectacle.”
