Play area improvements

Play area improvements set to begin this autumn

Fareham Borough Council is delighted to announce that improvements to three play areas will begin this autumn, subject to weather and ground conditions.

As part of a five-year programme of improvements to fifteen play areas, running up to 2028, Laurel Gardens, Course Park Crescent and Elsanta Crescent will be upgraded this year. A public consultation took place in spring 2024, during which residents responded with their preferred options for updates to the three play areas. An invitation to tender for this project was issued earlier this year and a contract for the works was awarded to Kompan.

Items of equipment that will be added include an inclusive roundabout and swing, communication boards and springers. In addition, existing play equipment will be cleaned and re-painted where required, and areas will be pressure-washed and tidied up. Full lists of new equipment for each play area can be found on the council’s website: www.fareham.gov.uk/playareaimprovements.

Work at Elsanta Crescent will start on 21 October, subject to weather conditions, while improvements to Laurel Gardens and Course Park Crescent are expected to commence in November.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Connie Hockley, said:

“I am thrilled that the upgrades to these three play areas will soon be underway. Every child deserves quality outdoor playtime, which is essential for their health and wellbeing. The new items of equipment, especially those designed for inclusivity, will cater for all youngsters, providing enjoyment for years to come.”
