Making improvements to your Council home

Fareham Borough Council has launched a public consultation to give Fareham residents the opportunity to have their say on a new draft Housing Alterations and Improvements policy.

The policy provides comprehensive information on the alterations process and procedures for all secure Fareham Housing tenants who wish to make DIY alterations to their home.

There are just over 2,000 households holding a secure housing tenancy with Fareham Borough Council who may wish to make small or large-scale improvements to their homes during the lifetime of their tenancy. The Council needs feedback and engagement from its tenants on the policy documents, to ensure that the Housing Alterations process is clear, concise and easy to follow.

The consultation will run until Monday 31 March and tenants can review the draft policy and have their say through a short consultation survey here:

Executive Member for Housing at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Fred Birkett, said:

“We encourage our tenants to make their house feel like home and it’s important that the Draft Housing Alterations and Improvements policy sets out the process and procedures for doing this, in a clear and easy to understand way whilst informing tenants of the legal legislation involved. I encourage tenants to examine the document and provide feedback via the consultation survey.”

Details of the consultation can be found at the Council’s website: www.fareham.gov.uk/consultations
