Council receives appeal outcome for land to the south of Longfield Avenue, Fareham

Fareham Borough Council has been advised by the Secretary of State for Housing and Planning, that outline planning permission has been granted for 1200 homes, a new primary school, and community facilities on land to the south of Longfield Avenue in Fareham.

The site for this proposed development was identified in the Council’s local plan which was adopted in 2023 and the Council was keen to ensure any future development provided all the necessary infrastructure to support the new homes.

The applicant, Hallam Land Management Ltd, decided to pursue its application through the appeal process before any agreement had been reached.

The result of the appeal confirms the principle of development for this site along with the level of required infrastructure, which includes:

Before any works can begin on site, further planning applications will need to be submitted by a developer to the Council setting out the detail of what they plan to build and where at which stage there will be opportunities for the public to have their say.

Cllr Foot, Chairman of the Planning Committee, said: “I am pleased that the Secretary of State has agreed to support the Council’s position on the majority of infrastructure.  The development will provide much needed homes in Fareham. The Council will be encouraging the developers to engage with the local community at an early stage as their vision for the site progresses.”
