Fareham Borough Council celebrates groundbreaking of Eaton’s new facility at Daedalus

Fareham Borough Council is proud to mark the official groundbreaking of Eaton’s new advanced manufacturing facility at Daedalus, following yesterday’s ceremony at Fareham Innovation Centre.

Eaton, a global leader in aircraft component manufacturing, is relocating from its long-standing base at Abbey Works in Fareham to a purpose-built 176,000 sq ft Grade A facility. The development, led by Royal London Asset Management Property (RLAM) and Graftongate, will be leased to Eaton and is designed to meet the highest environmental standards, targeting BREEAM Outstanding and EPC A+ ratings.

Councillor Simon Martin, Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, said: “We are delighted to welcome Eaton to Daedalus. Today’s groundbreaking marks a major milestone not only for the company but for Fareham’s economic future. Eaton’s investment reinforces Daedalus as a centre of excellence for advanced manufacturing and innovation, and we look forward to seeing the new facility take shape.”

Matt Price, General Manager of Eaton’s Fuel Systems Business Unit, said: “This was a landmark day for Eaton.  The new facility represents a significant investment for Eaton in our Fuel Systems business, ensuring we retain our market-leading competitive position through the implementation of cutting-edge technology and production systems.  It demonstrates our commitment to our employees, our customers, the local area, and the wider UK manufacturing base.”

The relocation cements Eaton’s long-term presence in Fareham where it has operated for decades, and is expected to bring hundreds of jobs to Daedalus. The new site will include modern manufacturing space, offices, and wellbeing features such as a rooftop terrace for staff.

Fareham Borough Council has worked closely with Eaton and its development partners to facilitate the move, ensuring alignment with the adopted Fareham Local Plan and the strategic goals of the Solent Enterprise Zone. Since acquiring the Daedalus site in 2015, the Council has invested significantly in infrastructure and business development, transforming it into the borough’s largest employment site.
