Have your say on Domestic Abuse Policy

Fareham Borough Council is inviting residents to have their say on a new Domestic Abuse Policy which aims to ensure that the people of Fareham are aware of the Council’s approach to this serious crime, and where they can get help and support.

The Council is committed to working with its partners and other agencies to act where needed and provide the right advice and support to victims and survivors of Domestic Abuse. The policy applies to all residents who are experiencing, have experienced, or who are at risk of experiencing, domestic abuse, regardless of tenure, and including any who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.

A consultation has been launched which seeks feedback on the policy document to ensure the guidance within it is clear and concise. It will run until 29 August and residents can review the policy and have their say through a short survey here: https://online1.snapsurveys.com/rx0giy.

Executive Member for Health and Public Protection at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Joanne Burton said: “At Fareham Borough Council, the safety and security of all our residents is paramount. We believe that all forms of domestic violence are unacceptable, and we take every report of domestic violence extremely seriously. We want to do everything in our power to minimise the risk of domestic abuse in Fareham and help our residents stay safe in their homes. I really encourage residents to have their say on this Domestic Abuse Policy document to ensure that is as clear and easy to understand as possible for those that do or will need support in the future.”
