Holly Hill Woodland Park and Sensory Gardens awarded the coveted Green Flag Award

Fareham Borough Council is delighted to announce that the prestigious Green Flag Awards have once again been received for Holly Hill Woodland Park and the Sensory Garden.

The sites are two of 2,250 in the UK to achieve the award, which is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces. The Sensory Garden in Fareham town centre has now received the Green Flag Award for 16 consecutive years, while Holly Hill Woodland Park has received it 18 years in a row.

The news that they have met the standards required for the accreditation is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team that care for the green spaces so that visitors and residents alike can enjoy it.

Green Flag Award Scheme Manager, Paul Todd MBE, said: “Congratulations to everyone involved in Holly Hill Woodland Park and the Sensory Garden who have worked tirelessly to ensure that they achieve the high standards required for the Green Flag Award. Quality parks and green spaces like these make the country a heathier place to live and work in, and a stronger place in which to invest.”

Executive Member for Streetscene at Fareham Borough Council, Councillor Ian Bastable, said: “We are incredibly proud that Holly Hill Woodland Park and the Sensory Garden have been recognised once again with the prestigious Green Flag Awards. These beautiful spaces are a testament to the tireless work of Council staff and volunteers who continue to maintain them to the highest standards for everyone in Fareham to enjoy.”

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
