Council remembers HRH The Duchess of Kent

Fareham Borough Council was saddened to learn of the passing of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent, who died peacefully at Kensington Palace on 4 September 2025, surrounded by her family.

Cllr Simon Martin, Leader of Fareham Borough Council, said:

“We hold special memories of Her Royal Highness here in Fareham as she visited us on 23 April 1982 to officially open Ferneham Hall, the predecessor to Fareham Live.  Her presence made the event a very special day for all those who attended.  On behalf of Fareham Borough Council, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to The Duke of Kent and the Royal Family.”

Anyone wishing to pay their respects can sign an online book of condolence at www.royal.uk.  Members of the public may wish to donate to one of Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Kent’s patronages, a local charity, or a charity of personal choice.  A list of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent’s patronages and how the public can donate, can be found on the Royal website www.royal.uk
