Still time to have your say on Holly Hill Woodland Park

Fareham Borough Council is reminding residents to give their views on the Holly Hill Rediscovered project, which aims to improve the functionality, sustainability and aesthetic appearance of the lakes and ponds within Holly Hill Woodland Park.

Holly Hill Rediscovered is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, Arkwood Ltd is working with Fareham Borough Council to restore Holly Hill Woodland Park, revitalising this much-loved green space.

Once a Victorian landscaped garden, this 35-hectare site features parkland, woodlands, interconnecting ponds, lakes, and Pulhamite stone water features which are in need of restoration.

Over 700 local people have so far given their views, helping to inform this project, and enabling an understanding of how the park is experienced. As well as the online survey, a number of pop-up engagement events have taken place at various locations over the summer, including attendance at Fareham’s Big Weekend in the town centre and Play Day at Holly Hill Woodland Park.

Feedback received so far has shown that many people use the site for dog walking, days out with children and connecting with nature, but accessibility and signage could be improved. Your ideas will help shape restoration plans and future activities, ensuring the park remains a place to enjoy.

The online consultation will run until 31 October 2025 and can be accessed here: https://lets-talk.fareham.gov.uk/consultation/HollyHillRediscovered.

Executive Member for Streetscene, Councillor Ian Bastable, said:

“We’re very grateful to everyone who has already shared their views, and we’re keen to hear even more. Your feedback is vital in helping us shape the future of the site, so please take a few minutes to have your say before the consultation closes.”

About The National Lottery Heritage Fund

Grant applications over £250,000 are assessed in two rounds. ‘Holly Hill Rediscovered’ has initially been granted round one development funding of £111,000 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, allowing it to progress with its plans. Detailed proposals are then considered by the Heritage Fund at second round, where a final decision is made on the full funding award of £856,569.

Our vision is for heritage to be valued, cared for and sustained for everyone, now and in the future. That’s why as the largest funder for the UK’s heritage we are dedicated to supporting projects that connect people and communities to heritage, as set out in our strategic plan, Heritage 2033. Heritage can be anything from the past that people value and want to pass on to future generations. We believe in the power of heritage to ignite the imagination, offer joy and inspiration, and to build pride in place and connection to the past.

Over the next 10 years, we aim to invest £3.6billion raised for good causes by National Lottery players to make a decisive difference for people, places and communities.
