Better Spaces for Skaters: Improvements planned for Stubbington and Wicor skateparks

Fareham Borough Council is inviting skaters, riders, and the wider community to have their say on what makes a great skate park, as part of an exciting consultation to help redesign two popular local facilities.

The Council is planning to make some improvements to the existing skate parks at Wicor and Stubbington recreation grounds due to their deteriorating condition and need for repairs. The Council wants to ensure the new designs of these sites reflect the needs and ideas of the people who use them most.

Whether you are a seasoned skater or simply passionate about community spaces, your input will help inform the design and ensure the new skate parks meet local needs.

As an added incentive, all individuals who take part will be entered into a prize draw to be in with the chance of winning a £30 Route One Online Skate Shop voucher.

The consultation will run until 1 December 2025 and can be accessed here: https://online1.snapsurveys.com/gdvmcm

Works to improve these two skateparks is anticipated to take place in 2026.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Connie Hockley, said:

“We know how important these spaces are for skaters, BMX riders, scooter users, and families. This is a chance for residents of all ages to help shape the future of these facilities and make sure they’re inclusive, safe, and fun for everyone.”

Information about the Skate and BMX parks in the Borough can be found at: www.fareham.gov.uk/skateparkawards.
