Citizen of Honour Awards open for nominations

Fareham residents are invited to submit nominations for Fareham Borough Council’s Citizen and Young Citizen of Honour Awards 2026.

Every year the awards are run to celebrate and honour Fareham’s heroes who have shown strength in times of difficulty or adversity, or those who have made a positive difference to the lives of local people.

There are two categories in which residents of the borough may be nominated:

Young Citizen of Honour Award for residents up to and including 17 years of age
Citizen of Honour Award for those aged 18 and over

Winners in previous years have been nominated for raising money for good causes, volunteering and taking action to save a person’s life. Nominations must be made by 31 January 2026, and nominees must be resident in the borough. Those who have received an award previously may be nominated, provided that the new nomination is unrelated to the previous award.

There will be one winner in each category, who will each receive:

An invitation to the Mayor Making ceremony in May with two guests, to receive their award badges from the outgoing Mayor
An invitation to a reception with the new Mayor to receive Citizen of Honour certificates
An invitation to the Mayor's Civic Service and Remembrance Day Service
A family ticket to the pantomime at Fareham Live

Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Simon Martin, said:

“The Citizen of Honour Awards are a powerful reminder of the incredible spirit and generosity that exists within our community. Every year, we hear inspiring stories of residents who go above and beyond to help others, often in the face of great personal challenge. I encourage everyone to take a moment to nominate someone who makes Fareham a better place for us all.”
