Residents invited to Fareham Park tree and shrub planting event

Fareham Borough Council is excited to invite residents to help take another step towards seeing Fareham Park flourish with the planting of 600 trees and shrubs.

A community planting event will take place on Saturday 6 December 2025 from 1pm to 4pm on Fareham Park Recreation Ground on a first come, first served basis.

This will be a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together and help plant 600 whips, part-funded by Eibe, who designed and installed the new play and recreational facilities at Fareham Park.

The whips are one-year-old trees and shrubs, including hawthorn, dog rose, guelder rose, field maple, hazel and crab apple. These whips are all known for creating a wildlife-friendly environment and will ensure that the site remains biodiverse for the future.

They will be planted along the boundary of the Recreation Ground and Henry Cort Community College. Council officers will be on hand to discuss the future plans for the new Fareham Park Community Centre.

Free refreshments will be served inside the community centre, where there will be an opportunity to meet some of the Trustees from the Fareham North-West Community Association and learn more about how residents can become involved and help deliver the new community centre, growing the vibrant heart of the Fareham North West Community.

All ages and abilities are welcome to come along and get involved. Equipment will be provided, but attendees are also welcome to bring their own spades and gloves, and to dress appropriately for a messy activity. Countryside Rangers will be on hand to support with the planting. The meeting point is next to the children’s play area, Henry Cort Drive, Fareham PO15 6TL.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Connie Hockley, said:

“I’m thrilled to see Fareham Park continuing to grow as a space for everyone to enjoy. Planting these whips is a wonderful way for residents to leave a lasting mark on the park and help create a haven for wildlife.”
