Press Release

21 November 2025

See what Later Living could offer you at the Barnfield Court Open Day!

Fareham Housing is inviting local people to come and visit one of its Later Living schemes for the over 55s, Barnfield Court, in the first of a series of open days.

On Friday 28 November from 10am-3pm, Barnfield Court will be opening its doors to the public to showcase what Later Living accommodation has to offer.

What you can expect on the day:

Fareham Housing provides high-quality, older persons social housing accommodation, with onsite support for those who may need it. The purpose of the schemes is to enable tenants aged over 55 to maintain their independence and sense of community in secure, well-designed accommodation.

Executive Member for Housing at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Fred Birkett, said: “I think these open days are a great idea as they encourage those interested in Later Living to come and have a look at what we have to offer and speak to some of the amazing staff and existing residents. Later Living can greatly improve quality of life by promoting better physical and mental wellbeing, reduce social isolation, and creating more inclusive communities, so I encourage anyone who might be interested to come and have a look.”

Fareham Housing’s newest scheme, Assheton Court in Portchester, will be opening in Autumn 2026 and the team is welcoming early expressions of interest from both existing Later Living residents as well as new applications. While each Later Living scheme is unique, coming along to an open day can give interested parties an idea of what is available.

Later Living eligibility criteria can be found using the Fareham Borough Council Allocations Policy. Residents can also email one of the Council’s Housing Assessment and Allocations Officers at housingoptionsvm@fareham.gov.uk or by calling 01329 236100.
