Play area improvements set to begin in December

Fareham Borough Council is pleased to announce that improvements to two of its play areas will begin in December, subject to weather and ground conditions.

Continuing the Council’s five-year programme of play area improvements, works at Hollybrook Gardens, Park Gate, will begin shortly. Following a public consultation earlier this year, residents chose their preferred items of equipment. Works will be carried out by outdoor play equipment manufacturer, HAGS, who were awarded the contract following a competitive tender process.

New items of equipment at Hollybrook Gardens will include a toddler climbing unit, mini swing, balancing equipment, net spinner, communication board, inclusive play panels and new floor graphics. St Michael’s new equipment will comprise a toddler slide, springy, inclusive butterfly game station, inclusive role play unit, communication board, inclusive play panels and new floor graphics. In addition, both play areas will be tidied and cleaned, and the remaining existing equipment will be painted where necessary.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Connie Hockley, said:

“I’m delighted that work on these play areas is about to begin. Outdoor play is vital for children’s health and wellbeing, and every child deserves access to high-quality facilities. The new equipment, particularly the inclusive features, will ensure that all youngsters can enjoy these spaces for many years to come.”
