Have your say on Fort Fareham housing redevelopment plans

Fareham Borough Council has today launched a consultation inviting residents to have their say on proposals for the redevelopment of Redoubt Court in Fort Fareham.

The site was identified as a redevelopment opportunity in the Fareham Housing Regeneration Strategy and subsequently confirmed as a housing allocation in the Local Plan, alongside part of the open space adjacent to Longfield Avenue.

The online consultation will run from 8 January until 29 January at https://online1.snapsurveys.com/zc2r91

An in-person event, where residents can view the proposed plans and ask questions, will also take place in the communal lounge at the Trafalgar Court later living scheme on Thursday 15 January from 4pm to 7pm. All comments and feedback will be carefully considered when reviewing the draft plans.

Fareham Housing has been working with PDP architects to develop draft plans for the site. Once the existing two blocks of flats become vacant, it is the Council’s intention to demolish the properties and deliver a mix of new flats and houses, including wheelchair user accommodation. The proposals will also include enhanced green space with rustic play and leisure space, which will be available for the wider community. Homes will be for social rent, allocated to households from the Council’s housing register.

Executive Member for Housing, Cllr Fred Birkett, added: “The redevelopment of this site will see some of our poorer quality Council homes replaced with a greater number of new modern social housing homes. I encourage local people to have a look at the plans and to have their say through the consultation, so that they can help shape the final designs.”

Residents can also have their say on this and other consultations by joining the 'Let's Talk Fareham' Facebook group: www.fareham.gov.uk/letstalkfareham or by going to www.fareham.gov.uk/consultations.
