New summer events arrive in Fareham this August

Fareham Borough Council is pleased to invite residents and visitors to enjoy two brand new, free community events this August.

Summer of Sport and Tunes in the Garden will offer chances to get active, relax outdoors and enjoy Fareham’s public spaces, with events running weekly throughout the month.

Every Tuesday in August, from 11am to 1pm, families are invited to the Bandstand on West Street to take part in Summer of Sport, a fun, drop-in event inspired by the Commonwealth Games. Each week will feature a different sports-themed activity designed to encourage movement, teamwork and enjoyment for all ages in a relaxed and welcoming setting. Activities include roller skating and smoothie bikes on 4 August, dodgeball sessions on 11 and 18 August, and boxing circuits on 25 August.

Tunes in the Garden will bring live music to Fareham throughout August, taking place every Thursday evening from 5pm to 8pm in the Civic Gardens between Fareham Live and Fareham Library. The gardens will provide a picturesque backdrop for outdoor performances, with two acts each evening showcasing a variety of musical styles. Performers across the month will include Alice Mayhead, Nathan Cannon, HMS Collingwood Volunteer Band, the Military Wives Choir, Debbie Corbett, Roy Coombes, Kieron Cox and Bodyrox. Visitors will be able to enjoy drinks at Fareham Live, which will be open while these events take place.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Frair Burgess, said:

“These two new events are a great way for families to enjoy Fareham over the summer holidays. From getting active at Summer of Sport to relaxing with live music in the Civic Gardens, there’s something for everyone to enjoy right in the town centre.”

Both events are free to attend and designed to be inclusive and accessible for the whole community. For more information, or if you are interested in performing, please email leisure@fareham.gov.uk.

More details can be found at the Council’s website: www.fareham.gov.uk/events.

Summer of Sport and Tunes in the Garden are key projects set out in Priority Five of the Council’s Corporate Strategy: Leisure opportunities for wellbeing and fun.
