Join the Council to discuss Swordfish Business Park at Daedalus

Fareham Borough Council is holding a face-to-face engagement event to present proposals for the development of Swordfish Business Park. The event forms part of the Council’s public engagement activity ahead of submitting a planning application for the scheme.

Swordfish Business Park is allocated in the Local Plan for employment use and sits within the Solent Enterprise Zone.  A new internal road layout off the existing site access, alongside associated landscaping, drainage and utilities infrastructure, is being proposed. The proposed infrastructure would enable new employment floorspace.

Residents are encouraged to come along, speak with the project team and planning consultants, and share their views.

The engagement event will take place at Crofton Community Centre on Tuesday 21 July, between 4pm-7pm Residents will be able to view detailed information about the proposals, speak directly with the project team, and provide feedback to help shape the planning application. Planning consultants will also be available to answer technical queries.

This event forms part of a wider engagement programme with leaflets being delivered to over 2,000 neighbouring homes and businesses in the area. Information will also be available on the Council’s website after the event, providing further details about the project, including how to submit comments online.

This engagement exercise will remain live until Tuesday 4 August 2026.

Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Simon Martin, said: “We have some exciting plans for Swordfish Business Park at Daedalus and I encourage those with an interest in Fareham’s economic future to come along to our drop-in event to view the emerging proposals, meet the project team and provide feedback to help us shape the plans as they evolve. Daedalus is already a premier location for aviation, aerospace, engineering and advanced manufacturing businesses, and the biggest employment site in the region. Developing Swordfish will help to create even more skilled employment opportunities for local people and attract future investment into the area.”

Notes to Editor:

In advance of progressing the emerging plans, an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Screening request has been submitted to the Council. This is not a planning application, but a technical document that considers if a full EIA is required, before a planning application is submitted at a later stage.

'Deliver a wide range of new employment floorspace at the Daedalus business parks to provide for new commercial tenants and job growth' is a key project set out in Priority Four of the Council’s Corporate Strategy: promote economic development.
