Have your say on Fareham’s Draft Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy

Fareham Borough Council is inviting residents to share their views on its draft Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy, which sets out the Council’s approach to managing homelessness and rough sleeping across the Borough.

Under the Homelessness Act 2002, local authorities are required to regularly review homelessness in their area and publish a homelessness strategy setting out how they will prevent homelessness, ensure suitable accommodation is available, and provide support for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

The draft strategy sets out how the Council will deliver its priorities for tackling homelessness and rough sleeping.

These priorities are:

Making homelessness prevention everyone’s responsibility
Preventing homelessness through earlier intervention
Preventing rough sleeping and repeat homelessness
Developing sustainable housing solutions

The consultation will run from 17 September to 29 October 2026. Residents can review the draft strategy and share their views by completing a short survey online: https://online1.snapsurveys.com/8bauvh

Executive Member for Housing, Cllr Fred Birkett, said:

“Our draft Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy sets out how we will work to prevent homelessness wherever possible and provide effective support for those who need it most. By strengthening partnerships, improving access to services and focusing on early intervention, we aim to reduce homelessness and rough sleeping while helping people achieve long-term housing stability. Feedback from residents and stakeholders will help ensure this strategy meets the needs of the community.”
