Paper and card

All paper and card except:
- paper and card that contains glitter or foil
- shredded paper
- paper that is laminated
- stickers and sticky paper
- padded lined envelopes
- paperback and hardback books
- wallpaper

Food waste (separate collection)

All food intended for human or household pet consumption, regardless of whether it has any nutritional value including
- All uneaten food and plate scrapings
- Mouldy and out of date food (including ready meals)
- Raw and cooked vegetable and fruit, whole and peelings
- Raw and cooked meat and fish (including bones)
- Dairy products, cheese, egg and yoghurt
- Bread, cakes and pastries
- Rice, pasta and beans
- Tea bags and coffee grounds
Biodegradable material resulting from the processing or preparation of food, including inedible food parts such as bones, fruit and vegetable skins, tea bags and coffee grounds.

Glass packaging including bottles and jars

Anything that is not included in the list above should be placed in general waste bins. This includes:

Packaging of any kind
Liquids such as milk
Oil or liquid fat
Any material that is not food waste
Egg shells*

*Why can't we recycle egg shells currently?

Egg shells don't break down well in our food waste digester and end up as grit in the bottom. This increases the frequency we need to shut the digesters down for cleaning and this is extremely costly.
