When food waste collections start

When your weekly food waste collections start from 30 March, follow these four simple steps to food waste recycling success:

1. Line your kitchen caddy

Line your kitchen caddy with a compostable liner to prevent mould and protect our collection staff. We've provided your first roll of liners for you. You can also reuse things such as bread bags or wrap it in newspaper. Any non-compostable liner will be removed on arrival at the food recycling facility.

2. Fill your kitchen caddy

Use the information leaflet or our food waste webpages to help you decide what goes in your food waste caddy – every peel, bone, crust, teabag and plate scraping counts!

3. Empty your kitchen caddy into your outdoor food waste bin

Your kitchen caddy should be emptied regularly. When it gets full, tie a knot in the bag at the top and place it into your outdoor food waste bin or communal food waste bin.

4. Your collection day

Your food waste collections will be weekly, while all of your other collections are fortnightly – so remember – if you're putting a big bin out, put your outdoor food waste bin out too!
