Countdown is on for Christmas lights switch on

The countdown is on for the annual Christmas lights switch on in Fareham Town Centre on Sunday 24 November.

Come along and join in the festivities of ‘A Victorian Christmas’ between 10am and 6pm in West Street. Stage events will start at 12.20pm and the countdown to the big Christmas lights finale will be at 4.30pm.

The town centre will be lined with gift stalls, fun fair rides and food and drink stalls, opening at 10am. From midday there will be activities for all the family including meeting the reindeer, face painting, craft activities and Father Christmas will also be making an appearance.

Street performers including juggling stilt walkers, a roaming snow globe, a Victorian policeman, chimney sweep, flower girl and an organ grinder will entertain the crowds throughout the day from midday.

Westbury Manor will be hosting craft activities and carols and dances will be performed by The Mandaleigh Studios at Holy Trinity Church in West Street between 12pm and 4pm. Children can also make their own Christmas lantern at Crafty Makery, located in Café Imbizo.

Revellers are being encouraged to get dressed up in Victorian costumes for the event with the prize of a family ticket to Beauty and the Beast at Ferneham Hall.

There will be no fireworks and there will be a small charge for the fun fair rides, but activities such as face painting, some craft activities and meeting the reindeer are free.
