Press Release

10 October 2022

Join us for a Nutcracker Christmas Lights event in Fareham!

Come along to Fareham Borough Council’s Nutcracker Christmas Lights Switch On event in West Street Fareham on Saturday 19 November between 10am and 7pm.

This FREE family-friendly event is a firm favourite in the Council event calendar with thousands of Fareham residents coming along to the pedestrianised area of West Street to join in with face painting, fun fair rides, festive gift stalls, delicious food and drink and activities.

This year’s theme is the classic Christmas story of ‘The Nutcracker’ and the day’s festivities will be overseen by the Sugar Plum Fairy herself. There will be performers throughout the day, both on the main stage and entertaining the crowds along West Street.

Father Christmas will, of course, also be making an appearance and the Christmas lights will be switched on at 5.30pm by the Mayor of Fareham, Cllr Mike Ford. The evening’s festivities will all be topped off with the spectacular finale show which is not to be missed.

The day’s events are once again supporting the ‘Live Love Local’ message, encouraging people to shop local and help support Fareham’s range of independent businesses.

Executive Member for Leisure and Community at Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Sue Walker, said: “The Fareham Christmas Lights Switch On event is a festive treat for all the family. There is so much to see and do and I really encourage residents to come along early to take part in some Christmas shopping both at the festive stalls and our remarkable range of independent shops and food and drink businesses. The Christmas lights countdown is a spectacle by itself but make sure you stay after the lights go on as we have a fabulous finale planned which you will not want to miss.”
