Community Fund helping local causes across the Borough

Fareham Borough Council is delighted to announce just some of the good causes it has helped through its Community Fund this year.

The Community Fund was set up to support projects that will help communities or the environment within the Borough of Fareham. In the last 12 months it has awarded:

The most recent project to be completed was at the 1st Warsash Sea Scouts, who were awarded £15,000 towards their project to improve their Scouting Headquarters in New Road, Warsash. The project incorporated the refurbishment of the toilets (including the addition of accessible facilities), the modification of the main entrance to ensure the facility is accessible to all, the replacement of the stairs to improve safety and improvements to the electrical wiring in the building.

Trevor Stabb, Chair of 1st Warsash Sea Scouts, said: “I would like to thank Fareham Borough Council as this community funding has made it possible for us to make modifications to keep our building safe and accessible for all who attend this thriving scouting unit. It will enable children of all abilities to enjoy the opportunities that the scout group provides.”

Councillor Sue Walker, Executive Member of Leisure and Community at Fareham Borough Council, added: “Our Community Fund helps support a huge range of local community groups throughout the year and is something I am very proud of. It also made our Fareham Community Lottery possible, which helps to raise much needed funds for charities and community groups in Fareham, by giving 40 percent of all ticket sales directly back to the registered good causes.”
