Fareham Borough Council to host pop up event on Local Government Reorganisation

Fareham Borough Council is pleased to announce a public engagement event as part of its ongoing consultation on the future of local government in Hampshire.

The in-person engagement event will be held at Locks Heath Shopping Centre near the Marie Curie Cancer shop within the main square on Thursday 31 July between 10am – 2pm.

Fareham Borough Council has been collaborating with 11 other councils to develop options that it thinks would work best for residents, businesses, and wider community. A key part of this work is understanding how residents, businesses and community groups feel about these proposed changes and what area they think their future council should cover.

Residents will have the opportunity to:

Learn about the different options being considered
Share their views and concerns
Ask questions directly to Council representatives
Help shape the future of local governance in Fareham

All members of the public are welcome to attend. No prior registration is required.

The consultation will be live until 8 August.

Leader of Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Simon Martin said: “We are committed to ensuring that the people of Fareham are at the heart of any decisions regarding the future of local government. We want to be able to present a case to keep Fareham together in its entirety, within a single Unitary Authority and we need residents’ help to do it. This event provides an important opportunity for residents to engage with the proposals and make their voices heard.”
