About the new Local Plan
 

We've started preparing for a new Local Plan for Fareham. It will be an important document and will set out a vision and framework for the future development of the area. The Local Plan will guide how the Borough grows and changes over the coming years. It will set out where new homes, jobs and facilities should go, how places should be designed, and how we protect what makes Fareham special. It will also cover the allocation of housing sites, which includes identifying sites for new homes, and set out planning policies which will be used to decide planning applications.

The new Local Plan will be shaped by Fareham Borough Council's priorities and by what communities tell us during several consultation processes that will take place during its preparation. The Local Plan will be prepared in line with the government's new 30-month local plan process .

The new Local Plan will replace the current Fareham Local Plan, which was adopted in April 2023.
