You are here: Home / Waste Collection And Recycling

Bank Holiday collections

Our services do not change on Bank Holidays; your waste and recycling will be collected on the usual day. This includes Easter, and all spring and summer Bank Holidays.

Christmas 2020

Over Christmas and New Year, your bin day may change. Please check this site nearer the time.

Garden waste collections are always suspended from mid-December to mid-January. This is to allow resources to be used to catch up on refuse and recycling collections.

Food waste

Find ways to store food External Hyperlink, and use up left-overs External Hyperlink, to reduce the amount of food in your bin, and save you money.

Please put paper, card, tins, cans, aerosols and plastic bottles in the blue lid recycling bin. Unfortunately no plastic other than bottles are accepted (no plastic pots, tubs, trays or packaging). Please put everything loose in the blue lid bin, not in bags. Gift wrap cannot be put in recycling bins.

Empty jars and bottles can go in the glass recycling banks around the Borough.

Clothes and textiles can be taken to the textile banks.

Household waste recycling centres 'HWRC'

You can take excess refuse or other household items to a household waste recycling centre (HWRC). They are open every day except 25 and 26 December and 1 January. If you have any queries about disposing of household rubbish please check our A - Z of waste or contact us on 01329 236100 or email at
