Welborne will be a distinct new community near Fareham in Hampshire, enjoying a superb location alongside the M27 close to the major south coast cities.
With around 6,000 homes, supporting 5,700 jobs, and over 30% of the site set aside for green infrastructure, it will be an exceptional, characterful community where people aspire to live and underpinned by a wide range of high quality facilities for residents.
Welborne was awarded Garden Village status by the Government in January 2017. This gives it access to government funding and support in terms of expertise and brokerage.
Welborne Garden Village is being delivered by Master Developer and landowner, Buckland Development Ltd.
Fareham Borough Council has received an outline planning application from Buckland Development Limited for up to 6,000 homes at Welborne Garden Village.
The Council recognises the huge amount of local interest in Welborne so the Welborne Garden Village website contains all news relating to the site in one place.
The comprehensive development of Welborne as a new community based on Garden City principles is set out in the Welborne Plan, which forms Part 3 of the Fareham Borough Local Plan, adopted in June 2015.
Two Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) have been adopted for Welborne to secure the satisfactory development of, and essential infrastructure for, Welborne and to set out the Council's expectations of the design of Welborne.
The infrastructure required to support Welborne Garden Village was considered in the Welborne Local Plan Enquiry (969 KB). This has now been updated.
To date, 24 new garden settlements have been announced by the Government, with the collective potential for the provision of almost 200,000 new homes across the country.
