The Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Mr Mike Ford will be holding a variety of fundraising events in support of his chosen charities and would be delighted if you are able to support these.
GAFIRS is an independent lifeboat and inshore rescue service. As a declared facility to the UK Coastguard, it provides emergency lifeboat cover to the Eastern Solent and Portsmouth Harbour.
On average, GAFIRS respond to 100 incidents per year, from towing stricken vessels away from danger, to providing life-saving first aid to critically injured casualties. This vital service is managed and delivered entirely by volunteers.
Members commit hundreds of hours each per year in order to maintain this vital public service. This includes services to the community such as delivering safety presentations to water sports clubs, accident prevention and beach safety events at schools, promotions at local fairs and fetes and fundraising events.
For more information go to the GAFIRS website .
