Bins
Your refuse and recycling bins will be emptied on alternate weeks. Please put your bin out by 6am on the morning of your collection, or the evening before.
The bin with the green lid is for general waste and recyclables go in your blue top bin.
If you are new to Hampshire, you may find the list of what can be recycled is different from your previous address. Visit the recycling page on this website to access a list of what can and can't be recycled.
When will my bin be collected?
Collection dates differ for the east and west of Fareham. You can find out your collection day from the Domestic Refuse and Recycling collection search facility on our website. Alternatively, you can download a bin calendar which you'll find under 'B' on the A-Z of our website.
Some useful links to our Refuse and Recycling pages can be found below.
Bank Holiday collections
Bins are emptied on the usual day on Bank Holidays throughout the year, including Easter. There may be changes over the Christmas period and these will be posted on the Council's website and via social media late autumn each year.
Garden Waste
If you would like your garden waste collected you'll need to sign up to our subscription service. Alternatively you can take your garden waste to a household waste recycling centre or you can try home composting.
For further information visit the Garden Waste page of our website which you'll find under 'G' on the A-Z.
Order a new bin
When you move in to your new home you will need to buy your bins if they are not already there. This applies to both new build and existing properties. Only bins provided by Fareham Borough Council will be emptied.
Information about ordering new bins is available on the website from any of the bin pages.
