Traffic Regulation Orders and Traffic Management

Traffic Regulation Orders (Off Street Parking)

Traffic Management

The Traffic Management function ceased to be run by Fareham Borough Council on 30 June 2017. From 1 July 2017, most traffic management matters are addressed by Hampshire County Council External Hyperlink - Opens in new tab, who can be contacted by email at traffic.management@hants.gov.uk.

A wealth of information is available on the HCC website (Traffic Management) External Hyperlink (opens in new window).

There are two functions which will remain with Fareham Borough Council as follows:

Concerns about parking which causes obstruction or road safety hazards should be referred to the Police by calling 101.

All other complaints about parking, including all other requests for parking restrictions, can be made online External Hyperlink - Opens in new tab or referred to parking.services@hants.gov.uk

Traffic investigations

Traffic investigations can include surveys of vehicle speed, traffic volume, accident analysis and cycle/pedestrian flows along a specific stretch of road. We get many requests and to keep this to a manageable level, we ask that they should all meet one or more of the following criteria before being placed on the pool (waiting) list:

For more information, contact traffic@fareham.gov.uk or telephone 01329 236100.

Requests for pedestrian crossings

Pelican and zebra crossings give pedestrians safe points to cross roads carrying large volumes of traffic. Criteria for providing these is set down by the Department of Transport External Hyperlink (opens in new window) which set out strict rules for us to follow. Vehicle and pedestrian counts must be used to assess the situation, together with any other local factors.

For more information please see Hampshire County Council website External Hyperlink - Opens in new tab or e-mail traffic.management@hants.gov.uk.
