Countryside events

This year Fareham Borough Council's Countryside Service are running a range of events including a series of guided walks on natural history and our popular willow craft workshops.

Willow Workshop – Spring Obelisk

Date: Thursday 4th May

Time: 10.00a.m. – 2.00 p.m.

Forget the bamboo tripod! Grow your plants up a unique and beautiful willow obelisk

Butterfly & Wildflower Walk – Anson Grove & Portchester Common

Date: Thursday 1st June

Session 1: 10.00a.m. -12.00p.m.

Session 2: 1.30p.m - 3.30p.m

Join us for a leisurely walk to look at the butterflies and wildflowers which occur at Anson Grove & Portchester Common which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Both sites have a rich flora and fauna.

Owing to the topography there are a few relatively steep slopes to negotiate, so please bear this in mind before booking

Parking: side street parking is available on Anson Grove
Meet point: entrance steps to Anson Grove open space (opposite the Anson Grove T junction)

Wildflower walk – Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Park (July)

Date: Wednesday 26th July

Time: 10.30 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.

Join one of our ranger team on a wildlife walk across Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Park. We will be looking at what wildlife has developed since this new park was designed and recording our sightings.

This will be a leisurely walk and will be suitable for most as the terrain is flat. Please bring appropriate clothing for the day as the site offers little shade.
