Bank Holiday collections

Our services do not change on Bank Holidays; your waste and recycling will be collected on the usual day. This includes Easter, and all spring and summer Bank Holidays.

Christmas 2016

Over Christmas and the New Year, your bins may be emptied on a different day. The table gives your revised collection day, depending on which waste is due. Please make sure your bin is out by 6am on the revised day. This information is also available in a leaflet delivered to all homes in the autumn.

Christmas trees

We will collect your real Christmas tree for recycling. Put it out on your recycling day from Monday 16 January. Please do not chop it up. One tree per property, maximum trunk diameter 10cm.

Garden waste

Garden waste collections are suspended from 16 December 2016 until 16 January 2017.

Food waste

Christmas is a time of excess, which often leads us to over-estimate the amount of food we will eat. Find ways to store food External Hyperlink, use up left-overs External Hyperlink, and reduce the amount of food External Hyperlink in your bin. Handy guide to party food planning External Hyperlink.

Recycling

Please put paper, card, tins, cans, aerosols and plastic bottles in the blue lid recycling bin. Unfortunately no plastic other than bottles are accepted (no plastic pots, trays or packaging). Please put everything loose in the blue lid bin, not in bags. Gift wrap cannot be put in recycling bins.

Empty jars and bottles can go in the glass recycling banks around the Borough.

Clothes and textiles can be taken to the textile banks.

Household waste recycling centres 'HWRC'

If you have excess refuse or other household items for disposal, you can take them to a household waste recycling centre (HWRC).
