Bin calendar Waste Collections

Your bin days may be changing

To get ready for the introduction of food waste collections in March next year, and to provide residents with an improved and more efficient waste collection service, Fareham Borough Council is making changes to its bin collection rounds.

This means that many residents' bin collection days are likely to change from 3 November. You can check what your collection days will be from that date by using our postcode checker.

All residents have been sent a letter in the post to confirm their new bin collection days, alongside a bin calendar for the rest of 2025 and details of any changes during the festive period. Even those residents who will not be affected by the change have been sent a letter to confirm this, to avoid any confusion.

What do I do until the services change on 3 November?

Until 31 October, please continue to put your bins out according to your usual collection schedule. You can find this information here:

East

West

You can also check your bin collections up to 3 November using the postcode checker.

Why are you changing the bin collection days?

The Council has not made changes to its bin collection schedule for over 20 years. However, with changing wards and boundaries, the increase of new homes in some areas and the introduction of food waste collection coming in March 2026, it was vital that our rounds were made more efficient and future proof. The result will be a more efficient service which will also help us lower our carbon emissions.

What happens if I have to wait longer than usual for my general waste collection?

If you have to wait more than two weeks and three days for a general waste collection (green top bin), an additional one-off collection will be added to your rounds. Those affected will have been informed of this additional collection in their letter. These collections will begin on the week commencing 27 October through to 7 November.

What about my Garden Waste?

Garden Waste collection is a subscription only service and will be unaffected by these changes. Please continue to put out your Garden waste bin according to your existing schedule. Please note that this may now be on a different day from your waste and recycling collections.

To sign up or find out more go to www.fareham.gov.uk/gardenwaste.

What happens at Christmas?

Your Christmas bin collections will have been included in your letter but you can also find them here.

Will I still get my Bin Assisted Lift Service?

Yes, if you receive an assisted lift service, this will continue according to the revised bin collection schedule.
