Press Release

12 October 2021

Fareham Borough Council appoint new provider to help residents out of hours

Fareham Borough Council is pleased to announce that it has appointed a new Out of Hours call handling provider to assist Fareham residents from 5.15pm to 8.45am daily as well as on bank holidays and at weekends.

The Council provides an out of hours emergency service to provide a response for residents affected by noise or nuisance issues outside normal office hours, or for council residents reporting urgent repair work needed at their property.

The new provider SPS (Specialist Property Services) has over 35 years’ experience in providing this type of service for organisations like Fareham Borough Council and will take over the service from 25 October 2021. SPS will support the Council by ensuring that residents’ emergency repairs are carried out, and that environmental health issues are investigated. SPS will also provide support to the Council’s daytime helpdesk in the event of unexpectedly high call volumes being received.

Executive Member for Health and Public Protection, Cllr Trevor Cartwright said: “We are pleased to bring SPS onboard, so that we can continue to offer Fareham residents a way of reporting emergency and environmental health issues around the clock. SPS will not only assist the Council in getting repairs underway quickly and efficiently but will also ensure that environmental disturbances are reported correctly and investigated efficiently.”

Shirley Duffus, Managing Director SPS, added: “We aim to be ambassadors of Fareham Borough Council and will do our best to support, guide and help callers. We will support contractors and responding teams to ensure they are given clear information so that any repairs needed are attended to quickly and will deliver a seamless, friendly and supportive service.”
