Many buildings in the Borough are valued for their contribution to the local scene or for local historical associations but they do not possess the degree of special interest needed to be added to the statutory list of buildings of special architectural or historic Interest. Such buildings of local historic interest have been included on a local list we have compiled. Locally listed buildings do not enjoy the full legal protection given to those on the national list but are given some protection by policy HE9 (buildings of local architectural or historic interest), of the Fareham Borough local plan review 2000, when they are affected by development proposals. We make further additions to the local list as buildings of sufficient interest come to light.
