Pelican and zebra crossings give pedestrians safe points to cross roads carrying large volumes of traffic. Criteria for providing these is set down by the Department of Transport 
which set out strict rules for us to follow. Vehicle and pedestrian counts must be used to assess the situation, together with any other local factors.
