Following changes in government policy, we have revised our guidance and standards for parking in new residential developments.
Ensuring that an appropriate level of car parking is provided in new development is a key part of making sure residential areas are attractive, accessible and safe. The new standards are based on how many cars people are likely to own in the future, and consider important issues such as garages, visitor and cycle parking, and parking layout and design.
An accompanying background research & consultation paper has been provided to explain the various stages of research in preparing the document, and lists all the comments received during the period of consultation held in June/July 2009.
