What is RSS and Why Should I Use It?

Put simply, RSS (Really Simple Syndication) allows you to be notified about changes to particular areas of our web site.

Fareham Borough Council creates RSS "feeds" which contain articles of interest, e.g. changes to web pages, new planning applications. Each article links to a page on our web site.

These feeds are updated many times a day.

If you subscribe to one of the RSS feeds we create you will be automatically be notified of changes to information you are interested in.

Keeping Up To Date The Alternative Way

Without subscribing to our RSS feeds the only way you can keep up to date is to regularly visit the web site and then try to figure out what has been added or changed since you last visited.

What RSS Feeds Does Fareham Borough Council Provide?

A list of all of the current RSS feeds we provide is available here. (This link is a RSS feed so you are able to subscribe to it and find out about any new RSS feeds we create in the future.)

Who Else Provides RSS Feeds?

Really good uses of RSS can be found everywhere on the web including many popular sites such as Yahoo (who have many feeds), The Telegraph and 10 Downing Street. Another good example is the BBC who provide RSS feeds for many things, including news and sport. They also have a good article about RSS.
